You've got the right idea! This has been an area of strength for UNIX for a long time and technology like Solaris Jumpstart and Linux Kickstart really make this very easy.
Joe, the theme is called Pop!_theme from System76. I have it installed on Ubuntu Linux 18.04.2 LTS. Thanks for the compliment! I agree they did a great job with it.
