For me, it's always hard to understand these abstract descriptions of some process. What helps is when a series of specific instances with details can be included to make this seem more real.
I thought it was a mistake when dnf made 'upgrade' the same as 'update'.
To me, an upgrade would mean, for example, going from Fedora 33 to 34, not just bringing 33 up-to-date.
