Jason van Gumster mostly makes stuff up. He writes, animates, and occasionally teaches, all using open source tools. He's run a small, independent animation studio, wrote Blender For Dummies and GIMP Bible, and continues to blurt out his experiences during a [sometimes] weekly podcast, the Open Source Creative Podcast. Woohoo! I've been waiting for your article on this to show up here. I'm not sure if I'm willing to give up my current Markdown/Mercurial/Freemind workflow, but your article sure makes it awfully tempting!

I'm a really big fan of Reveal.js for my own presentations. However, in a work environment where people from other departments (*cough*sales*cough*) want to use my slides, it can be a challenge... mostly because those people don't know that it's possible to do a presentation with anything other than PowerPoint.

As an unconventional example, I once saw a brilliant presentation delivered with Freemind. So I definitely agree that a slideshow-style presentation isn't the only way to go.
