Communities and the value they inherently have in our lives has never been more highlighted than over the past year as we deal with a global pandemic keeping us home, away from conferences and events, and busy with the complexities of childcare, elderly care, working remote, and more.
I've been a part of the Opensource.com community for almost eight years, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that these are a group of honest, earnest, curious, and nerdy-funny people. Some of them help us keep the lights on, and they are the backbone of the articles we publish every single day. Others pop into and out of our lives as the editors as they are drawn to and away from writing, as it should be. No matter the cadence, the Opensource.com editorial team is grateful and filled with hope working with this community.
I especially enjoy our time together during weekly Correspondent calls. And I am truly eager to open my email each day to engage in conversation about article ideas and edits. Best of all are the true relationships we are building that exist outside of the confines of "work."
Every January, we take the time to celebrate this community and its accomplishments. So, without further adieu, let's hear it for the People's Choice Award winners for 2021!
The methodology
Our community votes with its attention. With that in mind, we take the top 10 categories by readership for 2021 and list the top five authors (non-staff) for each category. Note that there may be fewer than ten authors per category due to multiple articles written by the same author. Authors are also eligible to be award winners in multiple categories.
