You should think about how open you want to be. It might seem convenient to be open to any IP address in the world, but it's not likely you need that.
I forget where they are, but there are also logs of login attempts that you should keep an eye on. It's amazing how soon after you open your server to the outside world that people are trying to log in to it.

Some basic things I have come to enjoy, and would not want to give up, is first of all, the ability to use my own ebooks to browse Project Gutenberg's catalog (as I showed in https://opensource.com/article/18/8/more-books-your-ereader ), where my current ebook reader (not in your list, and I presume not open source) will internally go to PG's website and be able to download a book directly to the reader -- it also allows you to view the book in HTML onsite to decide if you want to download it. It seems to have its own internal browser.
I also have the ability to look up a word or phrase straight from the reader to Firefox or Google -- you highlight the phrase, then click DEFINE. If it's a foreign word or passage, you click TRANSLATE, in which case it goes straight to Google Translate with the passage, and you back-click to return to the reader afterward. Very convenient.
