Similarly there is also upterm (upterm.dev [owenthereal/upterm], not the terminal emulator written in JS [railsware/upterm]) -- I can't remember now what made me switch to it but it was something along the lines of tmate being tmux 2. While upterm is independent of tmux, it can be used with tmux very well. It lacks a web console though.
