I am in this exact situation; a company producing an open source CMS, with a global developer community.
Keeping that balance between the players (company employees, customers, partners, developers etc) requires communication at several layers, between several of the players involved.
Great article, as usual. There is so much 'hidden' personal and team dynamics, all related to delegation. Allowing your team members to take on responsibility, learn and grow, take accountability.... will give you an engaged team. One that will go that extra mile.
