Good question, Lori. As with most values that are important to me, I can see places where transparency isn't appropriate - for instance, there are times when individual privacy takes precedence. There are fewer reasons to limit transparency in government, so it's easier to avoid difficult arguments by focusing in on that. I do think it's important to have those difficult arguments, though, about what kind of transparency it's reasonable to demand of corporations and other organizations.
