I'm a big fan of InfluxDB especially of the Flux query language. There are a number of time-series options out there but no one offers such a powerful way to actually analyze the data you collect. Definitely worth checking out.

My favorite scanning app is gscan2pdf.
I have a Brother 3000N scanner with an automatic document feeder. gscan2pdf makes it so easy to slurp in long documents, which I then shred.
