'hub' surely adds many features. There are certain features that git cli (gh) does not provide, for example checking the CI status, manage releases and it extends git commands itself. Moreover, hub has a Github Enterprise Support which gh lacks.
Though gh is a standalone tool and hub extends git with more awesome features.
