Since this article is targeted at new users, install and use Linux on a secondary PC, if available (or run a dual-boot or a virtual machine with VirtualBox). Keep your primary system (Windows, Mac, etc) as you get comfortable with Linux. By using different systems, a new Linux user will get to see the idiosyncracies or approaches of the different OSes and become a more informed computer user. It is never a choice of one OS or another, as written by people who switched from Windows to Mac, or vice-versa.
